The province of Avellino, known as Irpinia, is located in the heart of the Southern Apennines, and borders to the north with Sannio, to the east with Puglia and Basilicata, to the south with the province of Salerno and to the west with that of Naples.<\/p>\n

An area rich in hills and mountains, rivers and lakes, with a low population density, it has about 6.000 hectares of vineyards, with a very composite varietal framework;
<\/span>Aglianico<\/strong>, <\/span>Fiano<\/strong>, <\/span>Greco<\/strong>, <\/span>Falanghina<\/strong> <\/span>and <\/span>Coda di Volpe<\/strong> <\/span>are the most common vines.<\/p>\n

Paternopoli<\/h2>\n

The Fonzone Caccese estate is located in Paternopoli, one of the seventeen municipalities of the Taurasi DOCG area, in the province of Avellino.<\/p>\n

The company boasts over twelve hectares of Aglianico, out of which the following wines are produced: Mattoda’ Irpinia DOC Campi Taurasini<\/strong><\/span> <\/strong>and, from the highest portion of the vineyard, the Scorzagalline Taurasi Docg Riserva. <\/strong>Near the Ifalco stream, which flows on the estate, there are instead the Falanghina vineyards destined for the production of Irpinia Doc Falanghina Le Mattine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The hill where the company estate extends, just outside the town, is located in the “Campi Taurasini”\u00a0<\/strong>sub-area, and is surrounded by the municipalities of Villamaina, Castelfranci and Gesualdo, whose castle was inhabited by a branch of the Caccese family, from 1856 to 1980.<\/p>\n

The vineyards extend on both sides of the hill, benefiting from multiple exposures and an altitude ranging from 360 m to 430 m \/ above sea level. The hill includes both clayey – calcareous soils and looser textured soils, of clear sedimentary origin, and is surrounded by the Fredane and Ifalco streams<\/strong>, which clearly influence the microclimate of the entire area.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, given the proximity to Vesuvius as the crow flies, the first two layers of the soil have volcanic dust, deposit of the eruptions that took place over the centuries.<\/p>\n

The vineyards of San Potito Ultra and Parolise are destined for the production of Fiano di Avellino DOCG <\/strong>and Sequoia Fiano di Avellino DOCG Riserva<\/strong>, and the vineyards located in a Tufo and Altavilla Irpina where Greco di Tufo DOCG <\/strong>and Oikos Greco di Tufo DOCG Riserva<\/strong> are born . They complete the company’s productive vineyard area<\/p>\n

Il vigneto di Fiano si trova in Contrada Arianiello, in una zona d\u2019eccezione nell\u2019areale: impiantate nel 2000 le viti godono di un\u2019altitudine di 600 metri s.l.m. su terreni franco-argillosi. Le uve Greco sono allevate, invece, a 500 metri s.l.m., su terreni argilloso-sabbiosi in un vigneto impiantato nel 1995, esposto a sud-ovest.<\/p>\n
